Last week I had the amazing opportunity to speak at Mastermind with The Life Coach School, I only had 30 minutes, so I had to speak fast. There are some things I didn’t share there that I wish I had, because they are ways to used video today. So here you go-
Video is an incredible tool for coaches to connect with clients, grow their audience, and ultimately change lives. But where do you start? Below, I’m sharing 5 effective ways you can begin using video in your coaching business today. Let’s dive in.
1. Create a Personal Connection
People don’t connect with businesses, they connect with people. A simple, personalized introduction video can make all the difference. When a potential client reaches out to you, send them a quick video introducing yourself, your work, and how you can help. This personal touch builds rapport and sets the tone for a positive, trusting relationship.
2. Share a Quick Win
One of the fastest ways to build trust is by helping someone solve a problem—fast. Create a 2-minute video sharing a simple, actionable tip. Whether it’s helping them structure their day or offering advice on looking better on camera, you’re giving them immediate value. And once they see results, they’ll want to come back for more. Here is an example I did not to long ago.
3. Keep It Simple, Keep It Real
Don’t wait for perfect lighting or a fancy camera—start where you are! Some of the most engaging videos are shot with nothing more than a phone. Your audience cares more about the message and how it helps them than how “perfect” your setup is. If tech has been holding you back, I’ve got tips on how to make your phone videos look professional without overwhelming yourself. [Check them out here].
4. Analyze and Adjust
Analytics are your best friend. Track how long people watch your videos, where they drop off, and which content gets the most attention. For example, I noticed people dropping off one of my videos at the 17-second mark. I used that insight to adjust my approach and keep viewers engaged longer. The data can guide you in creating better, more impactful content.
5. Solve the Right Problem
Think about the two types of problems your clients might have: skill issues and thought issues. Do they need help using a tool (skill), or are they feeling stuck and overwhelmed (thought)? Address both in your videos to ensure your audience feels fully supported—mentally and practically.
