In life and business, we often rush from one task to the next without taking time to pause and reflect. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.
In fact, according to a study by Harvard Business School, acknowledging small wins each day can significantly boost motivation and productivity. Yet, too many of us get stuck focusing on what could go wrong instead of recognizing what’s going right.
This week, as I celebrate my birthday and Thanksgiving, I’m reminded of the power of celebration. My clients are wrapping up launches, and the holiday season is upon us. It’s a time of reflection and gratitude—but also of momentum.
Why Celebrate?
Celebration isn’t just about patting yourself on the back. It’s about reinforcing progress and reminding yourself of what you’ve accomplished. Research shows that celebrating success releases dopamine, the “feel-good” chemical that keeps you motivated to tackle your next challenge.
3 Steps to Celebrate and Build Momentum
-
- Identify a Win: Big or small, choose one thing that’s going well.
-
- Acknowledge It: Take a moment to reflect on what this win represents—your growth, effort, or resilience.
-
- Use It as Fuel: Let the positivity of this celebration push you forward into your next goal.
For example, one of my videographer friends recently shared that despite an Emmy-winning career, he sometimes fears his success won’t last. It’s easy to fall into this trap, but when we paused to reflect, he realized how much he’s achieved—and that momentum reignited his confidence.
What Will You Celebrate?
This week, I encourage you to pause and reflect. Pick one win and celebrate it.
Not sure where to start? Ask yourself:
-
- What went well this week?
-
- What am I proud of?
-
- How can I build on this success?
Let’s start a movement of celebration—because when we recognize our wins, we set the stage for even greater success.
